Bagpipe Instruction:
A very common, and sometimes annoying
situation, is that an individual may want to learn how to play the
bagpipes but cannot find instruction. Or simply has no idea
where to go to even look.
One thing all bagpipers will tell you is
that you really need an instructor. Self-help books
and/or tutorials cannot replace one-on-one instruction.
And then, when/if you find an
instructor, he/she may live miles away and simply not be feasible to
work with.

Well, on this page we will attempt to
give you some guidance, promote our qualified friends, and give you
a starting place.
In Springfield, there are many qualified
pipers who could teach you. First and foremost is the P/M of
the St. Andrew's Society of Central Illinois Pipes and Drums:
Tommy Ogilvy (pictured above left).
Tommy is known internationally and has played with the Midlothian
Pipes and Drums in Chicago and many other bands around North
America. To contact him,

are several others in the band that can do the job to get you
started, but to carry it to the next level, Tommy's your best bet.
