St. Andrews Band Practice

Band practice is held every Thursday night at Hope Evangelical Free Church, Lenhart Road in Springfield at 6:30pm. The practice is open to anyone who would like to drop by and listen and see what the band is all about.

We encourage anyone who is interested in playing the pipes and drums to stop by and talk to any of the members who attend practice weekly. The Pipe and Drums of St. Andrews of Central Illinois is a Grade 4 competition band registered with the MWPBA and also a parade band performing year round at local events. Rehearsals on Thursday's are free to all band members, and the only requirement for being a band member is to belong to the St. Andrews Society of Illinois and have a true desire and a commitment to learn an instrument in a highland pipe band.

There are several people who give lessons in the band for bagpipes, highland snare drumming and tenor drumming. They charge for their time outside of Thursday's practice and you can schedule your lessons for a one on one experience.

After practice we can usually be found in the Celtic Mist Pub, on Seventh Street, feel free to drop in and buy us a pint!  We also perform at the Celtic Mist every 4th Thursday of the month, also known as Thurday's Hooley.  See you there!
